I had such an amazing start to my +40 and fabulous campaign last weekend as Yadi Lupa (or Jazzy) came by my home studio. She was pampered by the amazing Sierra Rae Beauty and styled to perfection with elements from her own wardrobe and a stunning sequined dress from my studio collection. I cannot wait for her reveal this coming week!!

PHOTOSHOOT PREP Having your portrait taken is one of the most exhilarating things you can do for yourself, and a little preparation can make a huge difference. In my experience there are five areas where preparation goes a long way; these areas are: Face, Hair, Hands, Skin, and Clothes. - FACE - Get a Facial. If you’re going all out and hitting your favorite spa, be sure to do your facial approximately a week before your photo shoot, as facials tend to cause spottiness and redness, and a week will usually allow enough time to heal and allow your inner golden glow shine through. For those of us on a budget, plan to exfoliate a couple times before your photo shoot. Allow a couple of days between "treatments" but be sure to allow a few days between ‘treatments. In addition, an at-home facial with a trendy, sweet smelling masque is always a fun alternative to visiting your neighborhood spa. To increase the fun, Involve your mother, daughter, partner or puppy!! Wax Eyebrows. If you decide to have your eyebrows waxed, sugared, micro bladed or threaded, be sure to schedule the treatment at least a few days before your photo shoot in order to allow any puffy redness to settle. Whiten Teeth. If you are like me and enjoy caffeinated beverages and wine, this step may be for you. Major toothpaste companies sell whitening strips and whitening toothpaste which definitely helps give your smile that extra boost. Some dentists even whiten your teeth for free for new clients! - HAIR - Deep Condition. Should you choose to visit your salon prior to your photo shoot your specialist can do a professional deep conditioning treatment, or, like myself, you can use your favorite deep conditioner or protein pack at home while relaxing with a cuppa and a rag mag. Touch Up Your Roots. If you color your hair, touching up your roots three days before your photo shoot is ideal for framing your beautiful face. Get a Trim. A simple, subtle trim can enhance your youthfulness and vibrancy. And in so saying, now is not the time for major changes. - HANDS - Get a Manicure. Either at the salon or at home in your fuzzy slippers, a manicure is a definite must (a pedicure is pampering too, so go for it!) Soft, neutral colors work well for fingertips. If you are more minimalist, you can certainly stay with neatly shaped, clear nails. Another tip is to polish your jewelry. - SKIN - Wax or Shave. If you go the waxing route, give yourself a few days to heal before your shoot. Shaving can be done the night before. Be sure to get your legs and underarms, and if you’ll be wearing a swimsuit or lingerie, go for the bikini area as well. - CLOTHES - Bring 4-5 outfits. During your photo shoot, I'll be capturing images of the genuine you. Choose outfits you love. Think of those special items you may not wear often because they’re just not practical for day-to-day use, but are perfect for this occasion, or bring your go-to LBD. (And avoid distracting prints or patterns!! They confuse the eye). Form fitting clothes. Fitted clothing that shows your shape work best for photographs. While they might be flattering in person, they will not be slimming in camera. This applies to any body type. Choose outfits that will hug your curves, especially your waist, hips, arms, and chest. Something Dark. Bring at least one dark colored blouse, top or outfit. Black, Navy or Charcoal work best here, and a little shimmer or bling won't hurt either! Something Light. For your light outfit, think angelic. Soft, , sheer, gauzy, maybe even layered and chiffon. The outfit doesn't necessarily have to be white, you could go with light pink, nude, ecru, or cream. Remember, it's your personal style I'm going to capture. Something Sexy. This one is totally up to your interpretation. Sexy can be empowering; a backless formal dress, or beautiful lingerie. Come for your photo shoot and have an amazing time! These tips are here to help you prepare for your shoot, but are certainly not necessary or needed by everybody. Choose what fits you! |
